01 Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Bytewren ("Bytewren", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our website or use our services. We aim to collect as little personal data as we need, to be clear about why, and to keep it safe.
By using our website or contacting us, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or submit information through it.
02 Information we collect
We collect information in a few clear ways:
- Information you give us — such as your name, email address, phone number, company, and project details when you fill in a form, email us, or message us.
- Information you submit to our tools — such as the website URL you enter into our speed-audit tool, or text you type into our on-site assistant.
- Technical information — basic, mostly anonymous data your browser sends automatically, such as IP address, browser type, device type, and pages viewed.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive categories of personal data (such as health, race, or political views) and ask that you do not send them to us.
03 Contact & quote forms
When you use a contact form, the quote form, or the newsletter sign-up on our site, we collect the details you choose to enter — typically your name, email, and a description of what you need. We use these only to respond to you, prepare a quote, and stay in touch about your enquiry.
The forms on this template do not, by themselves, store your data on a server until they are connected to a form service or inbox. When connected, your submissions may be processed by that provider under its own privacy terms.
04 The speed-audit tool
Our website includes a live performance-audit tool. When you enter a URL and run a check, that URL is sent to Google's PageSpeed Insights API so it can analyse the page and return performance results, which are shown back to you in your browser.
- The audit does not require an account, an email address, or any personal details — just the URL you choose to test.
- The URL is processed by Google under Google's privacy policy to generate the report.
- We do not require you to log in to use the tool, and we do not sell the URLs you test.
05 On-site AI assistant
Our site may include an AI chat assistant. Messages you type into it are processed so the assistant can respond and, where you ask, pass an enquiry to us. Please avoid sending passwords, payment details, or other sensitive information through the chat. When the assistant is connected to an AI provider, your messages are processed by that provider under its own terms.
07 How we use your data
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your enquiries and provide quotes.
- Deliver, manage, and improve the services you engage us for.
- Send you updates you've asked for, such as newsletter notes (you can unsubscribe anytime).
- Keep our website secure, working, and easy to use.
- Meet our legal and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for unrelated purposes without telling you.
08 Legal basis
Where data-protection law (such as the GDPR) applies, we rely on these grounds: your consent (for example, newsletter sign-up); the performance of a contract with you; our legitimate interests in running and improving the studio; and legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis.
10 Data retention
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes above — for instance, to answer your enquiry, deliver a project, or meet legal and tax requirements — and then delete or anonymise it. Enquiries that don't become projects are kept for a limited period and then removed.
11 Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12 Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data or complete incomplete data.
- Ask us to delete your data, where there is no overriding reason to keep it.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent.
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity, and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
13 Children's privacy
Our website and services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us and we will delete it.
14 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we'll take reasonable steps to let you know.
